In focus this year is one key trend – that the dramatic decline in mental wellbeing that occurred between 2019 and 2020, and continued into 2021 through the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to persist with no sign of recovery.

In our 2022 Mental State of the World Report, we show mental wellbeing comparisons of 64 countries and regions, highlighting the dramatically lower mental wellbeing of younger (18-24) generations across the globe, one that largely reflects a decline of the Social Self with each younger generation. Additionally, we focus on family relationships and friendships across the globe.
